A New Blog Carnival with Prizes!
August 17, 2009 { }
Monday, August 31st will be the launch of Slightly Indulgent Mondays, a blog carnival open to everyone (your submission does not have to be sugar & gluten-free!) with weekly prizes. I’ll also feature my favorite submission from the previous week so your entry might just end up being in the spotlight!
What is Slightly Indulgent?
It’s fabulous food made a little bit healthier. This is how I love to eat – I like to know it’s good for me but I want my taste buds to think that I’m eating something that’s oh-so-bad.
What qualifies as “a little bit healthier?”
You get to decide. My philosophy around food is that there is no one size fits all solution. What’s healthier to me may not be healthier to you. That’s just fine. Healthier can mean reducing the fat, cooking gluten-free, reducing or eliminating sugar, adding fruits and veggies, using yogurt instead of heavy cream, using grass-fed beef, organic ingredients, low carb – the sky is the limit! My vision for this carnival is that it will be a place to share ideas about great food with a healthier spin.
Why not only sugar & gluten-free?
This blog carnival is about good food. Period. I get my best ideas and inspiration from ‘normal’ cooks and, quite honestly, I love learning from them. Let’s drop the boundaries and start cooking together. Everyone is welcome to participate – and we might all learn something.
Here are the guidelines:
- Link anything that’s Slightly Indulgent – fabulous food made a little healthier.
- When you link, make sure to use a permalink to your post, not just to your homepage. Include either your name or your blog’s name and the name of your submission.
- Link back to Slightly Indulgent Mondays using the permalink for my post so your readers can easily find it and join in the fun.
- To be entered in the weekly give-away, you need to link up and leave a comment telling how your dish is Slightly Indulgent.
- McLinky will be up around 9 pm CST every Sunday night and be available until 11 pm on Monday night.
Still not sure what Slightly Indlugent means? Here are some ideas, but don’t let this define your idea of healthier -
- Chocolate Pudding Zucchini Muffins – Amy at The Finer Things in Life added lots of zucchini to her muffins.
- Spicy Spaghetti Squash Puttanesca – Sarah at Sarah’s Musings used spaghetti squash instead of regular pasta.
- Mulit-Grain Chocolate Chip Cookies – Kelly the Kitchen Kop shares a healthier spin on an old favorite.
- Grain Free, Vegan Rhubarb Muffins – Ali & Tom from Whole Life Nutrition share a delicious muffin recipe.
- Pear Polenta Muffins – Our beloved Gluten-Free Goddess packs these little muffins with bananas, rice milk, and organic ingredients.
Thank you to Joy at FiveJ’s for designing the perfect blog carnival button!!
And, thank you to Joe, my Knight in Shining Armor, who not only encourages me to follow my dreams but also generously finances all of my blogging adventures with a smile. I love you.

What a great idea!! I LOVE slightly indulgent dishes!! I’ll definitely be entering! By the way, your blog is soooo cute, I notice these things because I’m a graphic designer, do you design all your own stuff?

I can’t wait to see your entry! I use Joy at fivejs.com to do my design work. She’s really good. I have the easy part of telling her what I want and then tweaking here and there….anyway – she’s fabulous.

This is my kind of blog carnival. I’m definately looking forward to this, even just as a lookie-loo. I’m always needing a little inspiration and ideas to make food healthier.

I love this idea! Blog carnival…what a cool way to describe it! I focus a lot of my cooking on “healthier” versions of original dishes, especially now that I am gluten-free. (even previous to that, I liked to focus on all-natural meats, local produce, whole grains, etc)
