Slightly Indulgent

slightly_indulgent_tue

Who doesn’t love great food?  And isn’t it better when it’s a little bit healthier?  That’s what this blog carnival is all about.

Here’s the guidelines:

  • Everyone is welcome to participate.  You don’t have to post a sugar-free or gluten-free recipe.  Together, we can inspire each other and learn about creating fabulous food, a little healthier.
  • Feel free to link older posts – I love to share my archived recipes.  You should, too!
  • You decide what “a little bit healthier” means to you. This is really a personal decision and means different things to everyone.  ”A little bit healthier” changes for me as I grow and develop as a cook.
  • You might get to be in the spotlight! I will choose my favorite Slightly Indulgent recipes and feature them the following week.
  • Please include a link to my blog in your submission so that your readers can find the blog carnival.  This is simple blog carnival etiquette.

Hi, Amy…forgive me…I’m new to the wheat-free, sugar-free & dairy-free lifestyle…like one day new! Palm sugar is sugar, is that right? I’m a bit confused about this. Since your blog is sugar free and then palm sugar is sugar?!? Is palm sugar considered sugar free? Thanks for your time if you can clear this up for me! Your brownies look amazing and I was interested in making them, but am concerned about the palm sugar.

Looking forward to this new way of eating. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do.

@London, No need to apologize. I believe firmly in asking questions and finding out what works for you. I can’t eat white sugar so I use alternatives. That’s what the ’sugar-free’ refers to. Palm sugar is also known as coconut sugar, or coconut ’sap’ sugar. It’s not like refined white sugar. It’s full of nutrients, is low glycemic, and sustainably farmed. Kelly at The Spunky Coconut has a great post about this product that I recommend you read.

Yes, it has some form of sugar – so do fruit, veggies, milk, and many, many other foods. I can eat palm “sugar” with no problem at all. White sugar makes me crazy.

I am always skeptical when trying a new alternative to white sugar and I think it’s great that you are too. I love to bake but don’t eat a lot of sweets. At the most, I have one ‘treat’ a day. The rest of my diet comes from fruits, veggies, dairy, nuts, seeds, a little meat, and grains. If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Sending hugs.

    Hi Amy,
Will you post your version of LaraBars? I’d love to have the recipe, hopefully it will save me some money on all the bars I purchase.

    Thanks,
    Bettie

@Bettie@Wineablegifts, My version is currently on my table of contents for the book so I can’t put it here…sorry. I don’t like that I have to do it but I have to. :)
